Description:  D/S North

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die scratches run through the tops of the letters of IN.  A die scratch extends from the top of the G in GOD.  Reverse:  Several parallel die scratches run through the lower letters in UNITED and from the last S in STATES to the O in OF.

1954-S 5¢ WOMM-001

Description:  S/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  A die scratch runs through the U of TRUST toward Jefferson’s forehead.  Obverse Stage B:  None noted.  Reverse Stage A:  The lower part of the vertical bar of the D can be seen in the lower left of the S mint mark.  A die scratch runs WNW from the lower left side of the dome.  A die scratch runs ESE from the lower E in FIVE.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.  Reverse Stage B:  The bottom of the S appears filled and the lower part of the vertical bar of the D can no longer be seen.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Several die scratches run from north to south to the left of the nose, lips, and chin.  Reverse:  Several die scratches WSW to ENE below the E PL of EPU.  Short, horizontal die scratches can be found above the left end of the roof.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Parallel die scratches run from north to south above the nose.  Reverse:  The reverse of this variety is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1955-D 5¢ WDDR-004.  A close Class II spread towards the center shows on OF AMERICA.  Die scratches run from NNW to SSE through and to the right of the D in UNITED.  A die scratch runs SE from the bottom right of the M in UNUM.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs from SW to NE to the left of the upper chin and lower lip.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs from WNW to ESE just below the mint mark.  Two short, parallel die scratches can be found between the lower E and P in EPU.  A nearly horizontal die scratch can be found between the N and T in MONTICELLO.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die gouge can be found to the left of the I of IN.  Several die scratches run from SSW to NNE To the left of the upper nose and lower forehead.  A die scratch runs SE from the upper queue to the ribbon.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs from WSW to ENE to the left of the lower dome.  Two die scratches run SE from the bottom of the M in MONTICELLO.  Numerous die scratches rum SW from the lower letters in FIVE.  A short, nearly horizontal die scratch can be found in the lower right arch.  A vertical die scratch can be found to the left of the E in EPU.  A die scratch runs from SW to NE to the right of the bottom of the M in UNUM.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Numerous die scratches can be found to the left of the profile and through TRUST.  Die scratches can be found to the right of the queue anad below the ribbon.  Reverse:  Several die scratches run from WSW to ENE above the left roof.  A die scratch runs WNW from the lower left side of the dome.  A die scratch runs from the second O in MONTICELLO to the top of the C in AMERICA.  A die scratch runs WSW from the top left of the M in MONTICELLO to the top left of the N in UNITED.  A die scratch runs from WNW to ESE through the lower EN in CENTS.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short, but strong die gouge can be found to the left of the lower forehead just above the eyebrow.  Reverse:  Short die scratches run from north to south on the right side of Monticello and through the right arch.  A die scratch runs SW from the bottom right of the second O in MONTICELLO to the top of the first A in AMERICA.  Parallel die scratches run from SW to NE between the F in OF and the first A in AMERICA.  Die scratches run SSE from the top right of the M in UNUM and SE from the bottom center of the M to form a tilted “V”.  A die scratch runs from SSW to NNE above the left roof.
