Description: S/S East

Die Markers:  Obverse: A strong series of NNW-SSE die scratches show inside the eye socket. A pair of die scratches run SSE from the upper lip and converge at the tip of the upper chin. Numerous, light NNW-SSE die scratches show through the date. A long series of parallel die scratches run north from the upper RTY in LIBRTY with some almost reaching the G in GOD. A long N-S die scratch slices through the central B in LIBERTY. Several short die scratches spike north from the back of the bust. Some light, parallel die scratches run South below the LIB in LIBERTY. Reverse: A series of curved die scratches run from the upper D in UNITED into the N in CENT. Similar strength die scratches show through the AME in AMERICA. Moderate strength die scratches run NE from the upper right edge of the left wheat tip. Similar SW-NE oriented die scratches show behind the C in CENT. Light N-S die scratches show below STATES and through and below the RICA in AMERICA. N-S oriented die scratches show along the right edge of the E in ONE. A single SW-NE oriented die scratch cuts through the O in ONE.

Description: S/S Tilted

Die Markers:  Obverse: Two die scratches converge in front of the nose creating a V shape. A pair of die gouges show at the rim north and NE of the D in GOD. Light die scratches trend NNW through and above the upper left side of the 1 in the date. Faded die scratches run north from the RTY in LIBERTY. Reverse: A strong E-W oriented die scratch shows just above the lowest horizontal bar of the E in CENT. Light die scratches through upper left portion of O in ONE. A strong die chip shows on the lower right wheat grains, ESE of the last S in STATES. Die crack lower right wheat grains. A very light die scratch runs south from the lower C in AMERICA. Die scratch runs south from first A in AMERICA.

1950-S 1¢ WRPM-083

Description: S/S Tilted

Die Markers:  Obverse: A tight grouping of die scratches run NNW through the left side of the 9 in the date and end in the field to the right of Lincoln’s lips. A lighter series of die scratches fan out below the chin and to the left of the 1 in the date. A long die scratch runs NNW from the upper right edge of the R in LIBERTY. Numerous, long, but faded die scratches run directly North behind the head from the TY in LIBERTY. A die strong die gouge (dot) shows at the margin of the field and the upper shoulder, directly East of Y in LIBERTY. A die gouge (dot) shows at the margin of the open field and the upper hair, SW of the first T in TRUST. Light die scratches run mostly North from the upper back of the head below GOD. Reverse: Finger feeder die abrasion runs North from the upper left edge of the O in ONE.  A die dot shows between the upper arms of the second U in UNUM. Two die scratches run mostly South from both sides of the U in UNITED with the right scratch oriented higher than the left. A light N-S die scratch shows between the lower M and E in AMERICA. Faded die scratches run mostly South from the lower C and lower left arm of the last A in AMERICA.

Description: S/S/S Tilted

Die Markers:  Obverse: A series of distinctive die scratches run mostly N-S through and well above the 1 and 9 in the date. A strong die clash remnant shows in front of the neck, North of the bow tie. A long series of die scratches run North from the RTY in LIBERTY. Numerous, N-S oriented die scratches show in front of the tip of the nose and forehead. Light N-S oriented die scratches show below the 0 in the date to the right of the mint mark. A parallel grouping of die scratches run NNW from the upper hair, SW and below the first T in TRUST.  A strong die scratch runs SE from the rim, NW of the S in TRUST. Two, E-W oriented die scratches show just East of the previously mentioned die scratch above the S in TRUST. Reverse: A myriad of parallel N-S oriented die scratches show throughout most of the reverse. A strong grouping of N-S oriented die scratches connects the lower O and F in OF with the lower left wheat stem. A die gouge (dot) shows on the SE edge of the O in OF. A strong circular die gouge (dot) shows in the upper wheat lines, just below the left tip.

Description: S/S/S Tilted and Tilted

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: A strong grouping of die scratches run South from the lower tip of the chin. A series of light die scratches-oriented NNW-SSE, run through the 1 and 9 in the date. Two strong and parallel die scratches connect the lower nose and the upper chin. A strong grouping of N-S oriented die scratches show at the front hair curl. Numerous die scratches run N-S through the ERTY of LIBERTY. A grouping of N-S die scratches show on the front of the lower bust, SW of the mint mark. Obverse Stage B: The grouping of die scratches at the front hair curl are weakly visible. All other Stage A die markers are worn away and replaced with a fresh group of die scratches. Several long die scratches run NNW from the 1 and 9 in the date. Light N-S die scratches run through the RTY in LIBERTY. A die gouge shows on the neck, NW of the bow tie. Reverse Stage A: Numerous, mostly N-S oriented die scratches show throughout most of the reverse. A distinctive grouping of die scratches spread South from the lower F in OF. A strong die gouge runs North from the lower right edge of the left wheat stalk, West of the lower O in OF. A long die scratch runs South through the E in ONE, ending above the T in CENT. A die dent shows at the rim above the right edge of the M in UNUM. Reverse Stage B: The die gouge running North from the right edge of the left wheat stalk is still visible. Only the slightest remnant of the long die scratches South of the lower F in OF remain. All other Stage A die markers are worn away. A fresh set of strong N-S oriented die scratches show between the lower left and right wheat stems. N-S oriented die scratches run below the CA in AMERICA and through the right wheat stem. Light die scratches run NE from the top of the E in CENT.

Description: S/S Tilted

Die Markers:  Obverse: A strong die gouge (dot) shows in the field just SE from the tip of the nose. Several parallel die scratches run NNW toward the chin from the 1 in the date. A pair of faded die scratches run North from the top of the head, one SW of the W in WE and one SSE of the D in GOD. A light, N-S oriented die scratch shows inside the central temple, West of the back of the eye. A worn, concentric die scratch shows below the lower bust from K-5 to K-7. A very light die scratch runs NNW from the top of the T in LIBERTY. A strong die gouge (dot) shows in the field, SSW of the I in IN. Reverse: A long die scratch runs North from the upper right arm of the N in ONE into the right edge of the second U in PLURIBUS. A light die scratch runs South from the left edge of the second U in PLURIBUS. Numerous, fine die scratches run NNW from the upper O in ONE. Numerous, fine die scratches run NNW from the upper T in CENT. A long, NNW-SSE oriented die scratch shows to the right of the lower T in CENT. A short, NNW-SSE oriented die scratch shows in the field above the upper right arm of the N in UNITED. A short die scratch runs South from the underside of the C in CENT. Very light die scratches run SSE from below the AM of AMERICA.

Description: S/S East

Die Markers:  Obverse: A uniform series of N-S oriented die scratches run through and left of the 1 and 9 in the date, North in front of the profile almost to the lower letters of TRUST. A peculiar die scratch runs through the upper hair below WE. A strong die scratch runs North from the T in LIBERTY and South from the R in LIBERTY. A series of concentric die scratches run close to the rim from K-3 to K-7. Scouring die scratches, oriented NNW-SSE show in the shoulder fold. Numerous light die scratches run NW from the top of the head. A concentric die scratch shows close to the rim from K-3 to K-7. Reverse: A series of light die scratches run NNW through the first S in STATES into the lower left edge of the N in CENT. Similar, light die scratches run NNW-SSE through the N in UNITED.  A short die scratch runs NW toward the rim to the left of the upper first U in UNUM. A light die scratch runs SSE through the O in ONE and into the back of the E in CENT. A light die scratch runs from the top of the O in ONE, North to between the U and R in PLURIBUS.

Description: S/S Tilted

Die Markers:  Obverse: Parallel die scratches run NW-SE through the mint mark. Numerous die scratches run NNW-SSE through and left of the 19 in the date. A strong die gouge (dot) shows in front of Lincoln’s lower lip. A distinctive, tight grouping of die scratches spread out to the North of the R in LIBERTY. A strong die gouge (dot) shows in the field two letter distances North of the T in LIBERTY. Very light die scratches run North from the back of the head. Faded die scratches run NW-SE along the margin of the forehead and eyebrow. Reverse: A strong die scratch runs South from the lower first S in STATES through the E in AMERICA. Numerous die scratches run N-S through the O in ONE. Several die scratches run N-S between the lower C in CENT and the UNI in UNITED. A strong die scratch runs South from the back of the lower C in AMERICA. Light, N-S oriented die scratches show on either side of the vertical bar of the T in CENT. A curved die scratch connects the upper left arm of the N in ONE with the lower B in PLURIBUS. The right arm of the N in CENT has been thinned by die abrasion.

Comments:  The doubling on this die is very reminiscent of WRPM-026. Mint mark location is slightly lower on this die.
