Description:  D/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  The obverse is also a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1970-D 1¢ WDDO-017.  A partial horizontal bar of the 7 shows above the 7.  Light die scratches run from north to south throughout the obverse.  Obverse Stage B:  The die has been heavily abraded.  Numerous die scratches run from SW to NE throughout the obverse.  Reverse Stage A:  A die crack runs from east to west along the bottom of the left memorial base running into the field.  A long and very heavily chipped die crack can be found on the first Memorial column.  Reverse Stage B:  Same as Stage A.

1970-D 1¢ WRPM-005         “Best Of” Variety

Description:  D/D Northeast

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse of this variety is also a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1970-D 1¢ WDDO-027.  Slight doubling shows under the tops of the seven and the zero in the date.  A die scratch runs WSW from the bottom of the 9 in the date to the vest.  Reverse:  Two short die scratches run from WSW to ENE above the Memorial roof on the right side.  A die scratch connects the bottoms of the T and E in STATES.
