2022-D 1¢ WDDR-001

Description: Strong extra thickness and split serifs can be found throughout the reverse lettering. Extremely similar to WDDR-002, but split serifs are noticeably stronger on STATES OF.

Die Markers: Obverse: Large die gouge near the hair below the O in GOD. Die gouge right of the G in GOD. Die gouge inside the 0 in the date. Die gouges left and right of the last 2 in the date. Two die gouges below the left and right side of the B in LIBERTY. Die gouge on the nose. Reverse: Die crack across the top left side of the shield with a small die chip above the U in PLURIBUS. Large die gouge below the O in OF (higher than the gouge on the WDDR-002). Die gouge above the lower left serif of the second T in STATES. Die gouge above the lower right serif of the E in STATES. Weak die gouge right of the D in UNITED.

2022-D 1¢ WDDR-002

Description: Strong extra thickness can be found throughout the reverse lettering. Extremely similar to WDDR-001, but split serifs are noticeably weaker on STATES OF.

Die Markers: Obverse: Die crack across the bottom of the LIBER in LIBERTY that curves NE through the R in LIBERTY. N/S die crack on the T in LIBERTY. N/S die crack on the forehead. E/W die crack through the front of the hair. Many die gouges throughout the obverse. Large die gouge right of the W in WE. Large die gouge in front of the nose. Reverse: Die crack across the top left side of the shield with a large pre-die break depression above the left side of the U in PLURIBUS. Large die gouge below the O in OF (lower than the gouge on WDDR-001). Large die gouge left of the upper tip of the shield. Die gouge left of the bottom of the U in UNITED. Die gouges below and right of the D in UNITED. Die gouge left of the O in OF. Die gouge touches the bottom of the I in AMERICA.

Description: Moderate extra thickness can be found throughout the reverse lettering. Extra thickness is especially noticeable on the lower serifs of USA.

Die Markers: Obverse: Small die gouge touches the top of the 0 in the date. Small die gouge between the lower B and E in LIBERTY. Reverse: Die crack across the top left side of the shield. Die gouge touches the lower left serif of the T in UNITED. Small die gouge right of the last A in AMERICA. Small die gouge southeast of the F in the designer’s initials JFM. Die gouge below the left side of the scroll. Die gouge between the tops of the O and N in ONE.

Description: Moderate extra thickness can be found throughout the reverse lettering. Decent separation shows on USA.

Die Markers: Obverse: NW/SE die crack on the forehead. Die gouge far below the B in LIBERTY. Many small die gouges between and below the G and O in GOD. Two die gouges southwest of the U in TRUST. Reverse: Die crack across the top left side of the shield with a small die chip above the left side of the first U in PLURIBUS. Die gouge near the rim far west of the U in UNITED. Die gouge below the I in UNITED. Die gouge between the last S in STATES and the O in OF. Die gouge right of the M in UNUM. Die gouge on the 7th stripe of the shield below the C in CENT. Two die gouges below the left side of the scroll.

Description: Strong extra thickness can be found on UNITED and the designers’ initials. Light extra thickness can be found on the rest of USA.

Die Markers: Obverse: Die gouge above the first 2 in the date. Die gouge above the tail of the 2 in the date. Die gouge on the shoulder far above the designer’s initials VDB. Reverse: Die gouge right of the U in UNITED. Die gouge right of the right side of the scroll.
