1957 10¢ Pr WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  Close triple spread towards the center on IGWT, the designer's initials, the date, and the hair details at the top of the head.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Vertical die gouge in the hair slightly west of the part.  Die chip on the 9 of the date.  Reverse:  Die chip in the field positioned left center from the 1st A of AMERICA.

1957 10¢ WDDR-001

Description:  Extra thickness on all letters and the leaves, strongest on the upper and right oak leaves.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die clash at the bridge of the nose.  Die scratch from the bridge of the nose NW into the field.  Reverse:  A north and a NNE die scratch from the inside of the first U in UNUM into the oak branch and leaves.  Long die scratch NNW from the I of DIME through the US of PLURIBUS to the torch holder.  SW die scratch from the bottom of the second T in STATES.  Numerous die scratches above the top olive leaf.

1957 10¢ WDDR-002

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on IME of DIME, the right dot and the M of UNUM.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Two die gouges in the field left of the chin.  Reverse:  Small die chip (dot) NE of the right dot.

1957 10¢ WDDR-003

Description: Extra thickness on all letters, strongest on the right side. Little visible separation in the leaves unlike WDDR-001.

Die Markers: Obverse: Many crisscrossing die scratches throughout the obverse. Curving E/W die scratches below IN. Strong NE/SW die scratch behind the head. Strong die scratch (die crack?) connects the nose and the L in LIBERTY. Two strong die scratches through the TY in LIBERTY. Reverse: Strong die scratches from the first U in PLURIBUS to the N in ONE. Strong NE/SW die scratches in the O in ONE. Die scratches extend SW from the oak stem. Squiggly die scratch left of the upper oak leaf cluster. Die gouge between the E in EPU and the small dot.

1957 10¢ Pr WDDR-004

Description: Extra thickness and slight separation on all letters. Close tripling shows on the oak branch stem.

Die Markers: Obverse: Die scratch on the rim below WE. Two large die gouges on the neck. Large curved die gouge left of the ear. Reverse: Die pitting through AMERICA. Irregular die scratch on the rim above UNITED. NE/SW die scratch on the lower right corner of the N in ONE. Many short die scratches at the rim near the right dot. Two die gouges below the R in PLURIBUS. Die gouge near the oak leaves above the last U in UNUM.
